Blue Sea Web Consulting Tips and Project Policies.

1. How do I get a Web Domain name?

Blue Sea Web Consulting can help you choose your Domain Name. That is a fundamental part of our Web Consulting Service. Your domain name is more than just a street address. It is what everyone in the world can use find your business and your website.

Getting the right domain name is fairly important and a bit challenging because your first choice may already have been taken. That is why it is a good idea to jot down several different ideas.

Make sure your “Domain Name” is short and catchy, if possible. It should be easy to read when printed and it should also be easy to remember when seen in an advertisement.

If possible part of the domain name should have the main key words people would use to search and find a website like yours. It is important to note that no one owns their domain name. They all have to rent them from ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers . The average cost to rent your domain is $4 to $17, per year, depending on the suffix (.com, .net, .org). It is best to go ahead and pay the domain name rent up for 3 years.

A business that is authorized to rent you a domain name is called an “Accredited Registrar”, or Registrar for short. After registration of the domain name, you are referred to as the “Registrant”, or “Owner”. You don’t really own the name, you only own the rights to control it.

Our Web Consulting Service will make this process easy and painless.

2. What is the process of getting a website up and running?

2.1. After you choose a Domain name, the second step is to design the website, and figure out where you are going to Host the website. Before you get started, you may wish to look at other websites in order to get an idea of what styles you like. With your target audience in mind, think about what information is most important to have on your website. As your Web Consulting provider, Blue Sea Web Consulting will use our tools to help you figure that out.

Think about colors, content, a logo, and photographs that you would like to include. 2.2. The next step is assembling all your written content and images, such as the header picture, or other art work. Provide us with your images in common formats such as .jpg, .gifs, or .png, and your text in documents such as Word or PDFs.

4. What types of payments do you accept for your Web Consulting Services?

We accept business checks, money orders, cashiers checks, and Paypal.

5. Do I need a computer to have a Website or to do Email List Building?

No. Your website is stored on a Web Site Hosting Server, it is not stored on your computer. Email List Building is handled by our Email Autorepsonder service. You will however, need a computer connected to the internet to send and receive email, and to view your website.

6. Where will my Website Hosting be hosted?

As your web consulting service we will be taking care of your website hosting on Server space we control. Just as you would rent a car or a condo for a certain amount of time, you will “rent” server space from a Website Hosting company, on a high speed computer known as a “server”. The Server is connected to the internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We provide commercial grade Website hosting. Some inexpensive Website Hosting Services have terrible loading times, and if there is more than one person trying to access your site, they have been known to load terribly slow. Likewise Search Engines may penalize your sites display ranking if the website loading speed is slow.

7. What about updating my website?

You may wish to update or change your website periodically. Website changes are billed on an hourly basis of $40 an hour with a 10 minute minimum.

However, if you have purchased our monthly Hosting and Maintenance package, these fees do not apply to you. We take care of as many minor modifications as you need, whenever you need them.

8. Do we need to meet in person?

No! That’s the beauty of the internet. Everything can be done through email, telephone, or over Skype. We have clients all over the country. We would, of course, be happy to meet with you if you are located near our office.

9. What is a search engine?

A search engine is a website where you can type in words and phrases called “key words” to help you find what you’re looking for on the Internet. Some popular search engines are Yahoo, Bing, and Google.

10. Will my website be placed high in the search engines?

Search Engine Results Page (SERP) ranking all depends how much direct competition exists on the internet. Some keywords are extremely competitive. That is where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) comes into play. When people type in what they are looking for on the Internet, the words they type in are called “Key Words”. SEO work attempts to place you website design in the “Golden Triangle”. That is the area on the screen that is first visible when people are searching for something.

Our SEO Package includes work we do monthly to ensure you get the best visibility for your website design through website design SEO. We perform your SEO monitoring and keep you advised monthly.

Although there are no guarantees, everything will be done to optimize your website by choosing meta tags and keywords, as well as utilizing proper HTML tags, headers and placing keywords in places on your web page so that you have an excellent chance of ranking high in over 20 of the top search engines.

11. Why would I ever want to use Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing if I have good website SEO already?

It may take time to get good page rank and enjoy the flood of traffic organic SEO can bring you, but PPC levels the playing field and gets you business until your SEO ranking efforts come to fruition.
